In order to maximize time driving -- and because I was being bankrolled by the friends whose car I was driving -- I stayed in hotels. These ranged from the somewhat skanky Super 8 motel in Erie PA to the scarily clean and efficient Econo-Lodge in Mitchell SD. They were all $30 or less. This advice was on my mattress. It appears that it was ignored.
