I headed over to the NPR makeshift war room which they had set up in the basement of their hotel since the digs there were better than at the Convention Center and, at the end of the day, it's all a big TV show anyhow. All the reporters are sticking to union rules and just working eight hour days. This seems like a round-the-clock media event, but that's mainly because there are so many reporters here.

Like many people, they were wondering how to wrangle invites to the best parties. There's a frenzied sense of figuring out where the cool stuff is happening whenever the actual major convention speeches aren't happening.
